Abu Fihr: una finca real de época hafsí en Túnez

Research focuses attention on the civil architecture and the royal gardens of the Abu Fihr Park in Tunis as described by travellers. The environmental complex is located in the northern area of Tunis and is part of an urban housing development of seven acres just at the entrance of the Ariana place. Even though the Abu Fihr green area has been transformed by the building of new streets and houses, it still has abundant vegetation and some archaeological evidence, mostly related to medieval hydraulic infrastructures. In fact it remains some vestiges of a great water tank (birka) fed by a Roman aqueduct branch of Cartage which was consolidated in the 1267 during the reign of Prince al-Mustansir ibn Abi Zakariya. On the East and West sides of the big water basin rise of walls constructed in pisé there are walls made of adobe that are of relevant importance. Once, they probably had two pavilions of different sizes that were supported by white marble columns and covered in mosaics.
