Due to the effects of aging and their seismic vulnerability, old masonry structures have often been seriously damage and thus are in need of repair and strengthening. As a response to the challenges involved in conserving these structures, today fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) composites offer an advantageous solution to restore and reinforce many masonry buildings and monuments. Although the seismic performance of FRP-strengthened masonry appears to be promising, there is still a need for investigations aimed at clarifying their dynamic responses, verifying the effectiveness of various design solutions, and identifying the most suitable ones in a given circumstance. Within this framework, numerical simulations can provide useful indications, but they must also be corroborated by experimental tests.

Abstract
Within this framework, numerical simulations can provide useful indications, but they must also be corroborated by experimental tests.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
