Preterm birth (PTB) and preeclampsia (PE) are severe pathologies that may affect and compromise the course of pregnancy, with a high perinatal morbidity and mortality. They represent the main “obstetric syndromes,” caused by multiple conditions and characterized by complex pathogenesis. The knowledge of the pathogenetic mechanisms leading to these conditions is very important in order to recognize women at risk and to perform the strategies for preventing their onset and reducing associated morbidity and mortality.

Abstract
Preterm birth (PTB) and preeclampsia (PE) are severe pathologies that may affect and compromise the course of pregnancy, with a high perinatal morbidity and mortality. They represent the main “obstetric syndromes,” caused by multiple conditions and characterized by complex pathogenesis. The knowledge of the pathogenetic mechanisms leading to these conditions is very important in order to recognize women at risk and to perform the strategies for preventing their onset and reducing associated morbidity and mortality.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
