The essay presents the guidelines of the recently released volume, „Slavs. History, culture and language from the origins to the present day” (Rome 2013). This handbook provides an overview of the Slavic cultural history on the basis of the latest researches at the international level focusing in particular on two main factors: acculturation processes in the medieval and modern Slavic world and contemporary centrifugal tendencies. It is currently used in Italy in major universities.
