This chapter focus on piemontite sensu stricto with the ideal formula Ca2Al2Mn3+(Si2O7)(SiO4)O(OH), but also include those members of the clinozoisite-epidote-piemontite solid solution series which have been described as piemontite for their peculiar optical properties in many petrological papers. Furthermore, other Mn3+-rich members of the epidote group that differ from piemontite for the occupancy of one or more sites are taken into account.

Abstract
This chapter focus on piemontite sensu stricto with the ideal formula Ca2Al2Mn3+(Si2O7)(SiO4)O(OH), but also include those members of the clinozoisite-epidote-piemontite solid solution series which have been described as piemontite for their peculiar optical properties in many petrological papers. Furthermore, other Mn3+-rich members of the epidote group that differ from piemontite for the occupancy of one or more sites are taken into account.File in questo prodotto:
