The concept that inspired the construction of the Federal Technical Center of Coverciano was to build an organism that corresponded to the many technical-sporting needs of the national football activity. The Federal Technical Center of Coverciano was born in Florence, at the foot of the hills of Fiesole and Settignano. The CTF is the first example of a sporting structure of a football federation and was born by the will of two famous Florentines: the Marquis Luigi Ridolfi and Dante Berretti. In the design, by the architects Francesco Tiezzi and Arnaldo Degli Innocenti, as well as in the choice of materials, we tried to echo the style of the Medici villas that punctuate the surrounding hills: dominate the Pompeian red, the yellow and the Green. A ring of cypress trees and an Italian garden surround the playing fields. The choice of the place to build the new center fell on the Florentine district of Coverciano and on March 29, 1952, after the resolution of the Federal Council of May 8, 1951, was bought the land by the FIGC. Just over a year later, the work was completed in October 1957. The official inauguration, however, goes back to November 6, 1958, in the presence of the then extraordinary Commissioner of the Football Federation, Bruno Zauli.
