Italian territory, as is known, is characterized by a high seismic risk. Such risk is accentuated by the population density and the presence of many old buildings realized without aseismic measures. The earthquakes that affected the regions of central Italy in recent years have reiterated the need of urgent interventions in the territory, in order to mitigate effects of future seismic events. Both scientific community and national institutions have devoted great attention to this topic, particularly to the historic centres that constitute an important cultural heritage. The work presented herein refers to the seismic vulnerability analysis of building aggregates of the historic centre of Scarperia, a Tuscan municipality located in an area characterized by medium-high seismic hazard. The developed analysis, based on the application of an empirical methodology, allowed to obtain, for each aggregate, seismic vulnerability curves, through which it was possible to define damage scenarios corresponding to a given seismic intensity.
