Starting from an ontological conception of the symbol having Christ as its prototype, a hypostasis in which God and man are united without confusion or separation, Florenskij develops a conception of the liturgical rite as a theurgy, an action of God which, made evident in the entire existing matter, transfigures this same matter into the body of God. Thus, in the rite as a theurgy a restoration of Paradise, that is anything but metaphorical and is presented at the same time as an ascent to Plato's world of ideas, is carried out, connoting this world as alive as a bodily organism of divine descent. An organism that, coincident with the world as it came out of the hands of God, is constituted as a multi-hypostatic unit or ἓν καὶ πολλά, finding in the Trinity the principle of its own being and qualifying itself as a theanthropocosmic entity.
