The last decade witnessed the use of one of the latest methodologies introduced from the world of architecture, engineering and construction (AEC): the BIM. In its’ first phases of use the methodology was mainly employed in design, eliminating a priori what could emerge as fundamental instrument for the subsequent control methodologies today: the Facility Management.[1]. Hence, thanks to this technology, today we can extend the use of BIM to existing Cultural Heritage (H-BIM) for control, management and protection of the property during its’ entire life cycle. Starting with these assumptions, the research aims at evaluating the benefits obtained from the virtualisation of the building in BIM environment with the aid of Scan to BIM methodology.[2]. Subsequently processes and methodologies, applied to the case study – The Museum of Football in Coverciano will be introduced. Besides re-qualification and interior construction project, it will be necessary to virtualise as-built of the entire museum complex for its’ management and control in the future. Therefore, before deciding on the adequate methodology for the relief and the virtualisation of the building, it will be necessary to study the critical issues of the present-day museums, analysing the necessities and the innovative strategies to adopt in order to make the museum experience more desirable in the future.
