The purpose of this paper is to study a special controllability problem in the case of actions exerted on the boundary of a target region that refers only on a sub-domain of the system. This problem has already been studied for distributed parameter systems described by partial differential equations. Our purpose is to consider this concept for more general spatially-distributed dynamical systems described by means of cellular automata models. In this paper we investigate the one-dimensional deterministic linear Cellular Automata by establishing a relation between controllability of CA and Markov Chains instead of using the Kalman condition.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study a special controllability problem in the case of actions exerted on the boundary of a target region that refers only on a sub-domain of the system. This problem has already been studied for distributed parameter systems described by partial differential equations. Our purpose is to consider this concept for more general spatially-distributed dynamical systems described by means of cellular automata models. In this paper we investigate the one-dimensional deterministic linear Cellular Automata by establishing a relation between controllability of CA and Markov Chains instead of using the Kalman condition.
