This paper describes a research that has been taking care of the quadratures in the rooms of the Argenti Museum in Palazzo Pitti in Florence, which belong to the summer districts. Celebrating the prestige of Grand Duke Ferdinando II, the pictorial decoration of these rooms was painted by Giovanni da San Giovanni, Agostino Mitelli and Angelo Michele Colonna, in the first half of the seventeenth century. The study is concerned with the use of perspective in the construction of the various painted scenes: through the comparison with the theories of the five-seventeenth-century culture on perspective, the survey shows the awareness with which the quadraturists designed the geometric scheme of their works. Geometry and measure are thus the founding rules of the design of these quadratures, allowing the control of the illusionistic force of the painted architectures but also of the technical aspects of the construction site. In verifying how certain perspective artifices stimulate the path inside these rooms, digital modeling becomes a tool for the analysis and illustration of the theoretical- technical contents of such pictorial works.

Abstract
In verifying how certain perspective artifices stimulate the path inside these rooms, digital modeling becomes a tool for the analysis and illustration of the theoretical- technical contents of such pictorial works.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
