Oltre ‘riscoperte’, Nachleben e ‘fortuna’: considerazioni introduttive

Il contributo presenta la finalità del volume, insistendo sull’opportunità di esaminare e valorizzare i processi culturali mediante cui nella prima età moderna le informazioni tratte dalla storiografia e dalla biografia antiche furono recepite in chiave attualizzante da intellettuali e autori impegnati in vari campi. Focalizzando l’attenzione sui loro interessi e tenendo conto delle finalità che perseguirono con le loro opere nei secoli XV-XVII, si può rilevare come essi concepirono il recupero della conoscenza dell’antichità secondo un orientamento non passivo, che suggerisce di superare le categorie concettuali di “fortuna” e Nachleben. - The paper presents the volume’s objectives, emphasizing the need to examine and evaluate the cultural processes that affected Early Modern Age intellectuals and authors of various fields and their understanding of information from ancient historiography and biography through a contemporary lens. By focusing on their interests and the aims of their XV-XVII century works, it is possible to better understand how they conceived the recovery of knowledge from the ancient world in a non-passive way, which would suggest the need to move beyond the conceptual categories of ‘fortune’ and Nachleben.
