The paper compares the evidence for textile production in the Terramare area of Northern Italy and in Mycenaean Greece during the advanced Bronze Age, investigating both the technological aspects and the impact of the local political economy. The combination of technological tradition and innovation seems to be different in the two areas, while some aspects of community of practices can actually be at play within both working milieu.
