Le “biblioteche” di Leonardo

Leonardo da Vinci, during his long life, collected a substantial and varied personal library in quantity and type of works, of which no trace remains. Of the library only the parchment manuscript of the first draft of the Treaty of architecture by Francesco di Giorgio Martini, and the Laurentian Ashburnhamiano 361 code, now preserved in the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana in Florence, Italy, on which Leonardo affixed twelve between annotations and marks on books between 1502 and 1504. Three lists of books have come from Leonardo's hand: the first is contained in the Trivulziano Code, the second in the Atlantic Code, the third in the Madrid II Code of 1504. Leonardo da Vinci, durante la sua lunga vita, raccolse una biblioteca personale consistente e variegata per quantità e tipologia di opere, di cui non rimane traccia. Della biblioteca resta solo il manoscritto pergamenaceo della prima redazione del Trattato di architettura di Francesco di Giorgio Martini e il codice Laurenziano Ashburnhamiano 361, oggi conservato alla Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana di Firenze, su cui Leonardo appose dodici fra postille e marks on books tra il 1502 e il 1504. Di mano di Leonardo sono giunti tre elenchi di libri: il primo è contenuto nel Codice Trivulziano, il secondo nel Codice Atlantico, il terzo nel Codice di Madrid II del 1504.
