The ambivalent nature of the concept of citizenship also manifests itself in its continuous transmutability: citizenship, both as a concept and as a practice, is part of a continuous process and can therefore undergo multiple changes and transmutations that are not easy to read and interpret, with important implications in terms of social change. This contribution aims at shedding light on the process of transition from more or less conventional definitions of citizenship towards dynamic, fluid and phenomenological explanations, to discuss the multiple implications and limitations of current definitions of citizenship, and to suggest potential pathways of future developments, by pointing, in particular, to what may be missing in the current picture.

Abstract
The ambivalent nature of the concept of citizenship also manifests itself in its continuous transmutability: citizenship, both as a concept and as a practice, is part of a continuous process and can therefore undergo multiple changes and transmutations that are not easy to read and interpret, with important implications in terms of social change. This contribution aims at shedding light on the process of transition from more or less conventional definitions of citizenship towards dynamic, fluid and phenomenological explanations, to discuss the multiple implications and limitations of current definitions of citizenship, and to suggest potential pathways of future developments, by pointing, in particular, to what may be missing in the current picture.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
