Conservation and restoration procedures for archaeological artefacts: the Erimi conservation laboratory

Archaeological excavations consist of a series of methodologically controlled operations and procedures that aim to obtain as much information as possible about the site and the artefacts found therein. Since 2009 the Italian archaeological research team working at Erimi Laonin tou Porakou has included on-site restoration and conservation of material in the standard schedule of activities. Every year the Erimi conservation laboratory has been structured and directed in order to permit the storage of material on-site and ensure the correct execution of archaeological conservation and recording and, at the end of the fieldwork season, provide artefacts that are immediately available for display in museums.
