In this contribution I briefly address three questions concerning the prodromes of the concept of harmony applied to urban planning in the Italian experience. I refer to harmony as a procedure and composition for the creation of projects for modern living. I treat this topic in two steps. The first is that of its birth in the early 1940s and is linked to national legislation on town planning. The second is that of the application of the legislation, which ended up abandoning harmony as a conscious design system in favour of a "bureauc token" application. I would like to conclude with a proposal: a reconversion, a return to the origins, into a proposal for innovation that transforms the technical approach also into a social approach.
