Clouds are common elements in everyday life. Cloud physics and the science of clouds provides answers to questions about the formation, the characteristics and the mobility of clouds in the atmosphere. But clouds are also multifaceted elements in popular cultures and atmospheric geographies, which evokes specific ideas of materiality and mobility. And the cloud is also a key technological concept, related to the ubiquitous access to shared pools of data, resources and services. The aim of this chapter is to develop a tentative geography of clouds by analyzing different conceptual levels of mobility. By reflecting on categories of movement, spatiality, transgression and hybridity, the chapter proposes considerations on theories on mobilities, emphasizing the potential role of transgressive and creative approaches to the study of mobilities within geography’s ethereal ontologies.
