Starting from an essay by Leonardo Amoroso contained in the second edition of his volume, Nastri Vichiani, the essay discusses Benedetto Croce's thesis regarding Vico, Baumgarten and the origin of aesthetics. The final thesis concerns the notion of obscurity of origin in relation to Vico's conception of the "indefinite nature" of the human mind.
