The aim of this essay is to frame, in theoretical rather than historical terms, the ambivalent kinship between Hobbes' and Aristotle's notions of citizenship. Whereas Hobbes is usually taken to have broken with the traditional naturalistic account of political life stemming from Aristotle, I will contend that Hobbes and Aristotle share an essentially constructive concept of citizenship as a result of the productive art of legislation.

Abstract
The aim of this essay is to frame, in theoretical rather than historical terms, the ambivalent kinship between Hobbes' and Aristotle's notions of citizenship. Whereas Hobbes is usually taken to have broken with the traditional naturalistic account of political life stemming from Aristotle, I will contend that Hobbes and Aristotle share an essentially constructive concept of citizenship as a result of the productive art of legislation.File in questo prodotto:
