The article analyzes the relationship between the Hesiodic description of daimones (Works and Days 121-126) and of phylakes of the human beings (Works and Days 252-262), and the function ascribed to daimones in the first columns of the Derveni papyrus. Its aim is to sketch out a possible line of continuity in the philosophical characterization of daimones from Hesiod to Plato.
