La ‹‹Lanterna... Agricola››. Pubblicazione periodica dell’Ispettorato agricolo provinciale di Genova

From 1961 to 1972, the provincial Ispettorato agrario published in Genoa the monthly illustrated magazine La Lanterna... agricola, with national circulation. The contribution presents the history of the magazine starting from the documentation kept in the Historical Archives of the Liguria Region, where the files of the Ispettorato agrario archives were kept after the transfer of its functions to the regional offices. The large amount of correspondence preserved allows us to reconstruct the foundation of the publication and its editorial life, providing a significant insight into the activities of the Genoese Ispettorato agrario, and examining the network of relationships woven by its editors both with local organizations and institutions and with national research institutes and universities. The Lanterna... agricola, with its in-depth columns, recalls the efforts made in post-war Italy to promote the continuing education of farmers through agricultural professorships.
