The article analyses the UNESCO interventions to safeguard the cultural landscape of the Bamiyan valley, a World Heritage site "in danger". It focuses on some criticalities in the UNESCO notion of cultural landscape and describes the difficulties in implementing it. Moreover the solution adopted by the new Bamiyan Strategic Master Plan (2018).
