Secondo John Harris, le forme di biopotenziamento morale che agiscono direttamente su disposizioni ed emozioni morali (come l’altruismo e l'empatia) generano una “bancarotta morale”, perché privano gli individui di autonomia e responsabilità violando la loro “libertà di cadere". According to John Harris, moral bioenhancements that act directly on moral dispositions and emotions (such as altruism and empathy) produce a "moral bankruptcy" because they deprive the individuals of their autonomy and responsibility by violating their "freedom to fall." In this essay we consider the balancing of freedom and good within the moral bioenhancement debate.
