The essay provides a comprehensive survey on the practice of the artist Flavio Favelli, with special focus on the importance of the act of appropriation and reconfiguration of everyday objects and brands. The use of ubiquitous images is meant as a cross-reference to the social processes of construction of mass consumerism and identification of middle class bourgeoisie, which have characterized Italy as part of the Western culture since the 1980s. Within this tendency, the US and the crisis of American dream as a commercial strategy of brands were extremely impactful, and as such integrated within a practice full of autobiographical and personal memories.
