Attraverso materiali inediti, il contributo ripercorre la vicenda progettuale del quartiere residenziale PEEP all'interno dell'isola di Mazzorbo, realizzato da Giancarlo De Carlo. L'architetto configura inizialmente l’impianto urbanistico di Mazzorbo come la similitudine di una struttura storica che si è definita nel corso di secoli assumendo caratteri propri e specifici. Il progetto era molto ambizioso perché coinvolgeva l'intera l'isola e non solo i terreni di pertinenza del piano PEEP. Il contributo mette a fuoco le differenze tra il primo progetto di De Carlo e il quartiere effettivamente realizzato, che, seppur a una scala minore rispetto alle iniziali intenzioni, rispecchia la ricerca spaziale e tipologica abituale nell'itinerario dell'architetto genovese. Through unpublished materials, the contribution traces the design history of the PEEP residential neighborhood within the island of Mazzorbo, created by Giancarlo De Carlo. The architect initially configures the urban layout of Mazzorbo as the similarity of a historical structure that has been defined over centuries taking on its own and specific characters. The project was very ambitious because it involved the entire island and not only the land pertaining to the PEEP plan. The contribution focuses on the differences between De Carlo's first project and the neighborhood actually realized, which, although at a smaller scale than the initial intentions, reflects the spatial and typological research usual in the Genoese architect's itinerary.
