What remains of Antigone in Hölderlin’s version? The aim of this paper is not to return to the questions that Hölderlin’s translation opens up; rather, the intent is to focus on the way Antigone is interpreted not as a dramaturgic figure but as a mimetic principle. Not a character within the text, although this function is foreshadowed, but a device in a broader elaboration of an ontology of the tragic: Antigone as aorgic mimesis. Many levels add up in this project: the recomprehension of the ancient in a post-mythic perspective, and this theoretical assumption problematically marks the overcoming of classicism; the configuration of a philosophy of history in which the ancient is no longer a model of the modern, but becomes a way of self-interpretation of the modern itself; and the need to identify a new condition of poetic representation of the modern, that is, to thematize a new tragic mimesis.

Abstract
What remains of Antigone in Hölderlin’s version? The aim of this paper is not to return to the questions that Hölderlin’s translation opens up; rather, the intent is to focus on the way Antigone is interpreted not as a dramaturgic figure but as a mimetic principle. Not a character within the text, although this function is foreshadowed, but a device in a broader elaboration of an ontology of the tragic: Antigone as aorgic mimesis. Many levels add up in this project: the recomprehension of the ancient in a post-mythic perspective, and this theoretical assumption problematically marks the overcoming of classicism; the configuration of a philosophy of history in which the ancient is no longer a model of the modern, but becomes a way of self-interpretation of the modern itself; and the need to identify a new condition of poetic representation of the modern, that is, to thematize a new tragic mimesis.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
