The article deals with the Italo-Yugoslav border, focusing on the period between 1955 and 1965. The 1955 Udine agreement allowed an increasing permeability of the border, which – within a decade – turned out to be one of the most porous borders between two countries with different political system during the Cold War. This led to the reconstruction of historical, economic and cultural relations, interrupted by WWII, as well as the development of new practices, such as cross-border shopping. Moreover, the Italo-Yugoslav border represented a gate to enter Western Europe for Eastern migrants and asylum seekers.

Abstract
The article deals with the Italo-Yugoslav border, focusing on the period between 1955 and 1965. The 1955 Udine agreement allowed an increasing permeability of the border, which – within a decade – turned out to be one of the most porous borders between two countries with different political system during the Cold War. This led to the reconstruction of historical, economic and cultural relations, interrupted by WWII, as well as the development of new practices, such as cross-border shopping.
