The chapter reviews the state of the art in solid-state weather radars. These radars achieve sensitivity by operating with a high-duty cycle compared to their tube-based counterparts. Advances in solid-state microwave power generation are nowadays yielding practical and affordable transmitters, while advances in digital technology have enabled both the generation of sophisticated waveforms and compensation for nonlinearities inherent to solid-state power amplifiers.
