In what circles did the fame about the recent past of Romagna gathered by Dante take shape? In Guido del Duca’s remembrances (Purg. XIV) we find a structure that echoes Faenza’s chronicles. Through the re-examination of documents partly already known, this essay suggests considering the bishopric curia in Faenza as a place of collection, reworking and diffusion of news, gossip and hearsay, in early contact with the Florentine milieu.
