Starting from the description of the development of the original GPQ and the analysis of its psychometric properties, the present chapter is focused on the validation process of the instrument in the Italian version. In particular, in a first section, dimensionality and reliability are analyzed. Then, based on the Italian clinical sample, we revised the original scoring procedure to identify the three pathways and we provide empirical support of its adequacy in terms of discriminative validity, by investigating the expected differences across the three groups of patients in terms of cognitive distortions, impulsivity, antisocial personality trait and traumatic life events. Due to the relevance of having modified the scoring system, great attention has given in a second section of the chapter, to the explanation and illustration of the new adapted scoring procedure, through both a paper-and-pencil procedure and an automatized computer method.
