The chapter on Article 8 of the Council of Europe (CoE) Istanbul Convention provides an overview of the main content of the provisions, referring to the explanatory report, to GREVIO baseline and evaluation reports, to relevant State practice, to jurisprudence of international, regional and domestic courts, as well as to the quasi-jurisprudence of human rights treaty-bodies. It refers where appropriate to other international documents, such as the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and its general recommendations; the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment, and Eradication of Violence against Women, known as the Belém do Pará Convention.
