Digital transformation has reshaped various aspects of society, economy and politics, giving rise to the emergence of platforms as virtual places for interactions. However, the role of platforms in fostering value co-creation within manufacturing contexts remains underexplored. This chapter aims to address this research gap by conducting an in-depth analysis of ELIS, an exemplary platform where Italian corporations collaborate with startups to implement digitalization-focused manufacturing projects. By investigating the emergence of ecosystems triggered by digital transformation and unveiling open innovation models, this research offers valuable insights. For academics, it fills a void in the literature by examining the role of platforms in co-creation manufacturing projects. Furthermore, it highlights the economic development potential of such open innovation models, providing replicable practices. Practical implications include showcasing co-creation opportunities for corporations and startups, urging public agencies to adapt policies and investment strategies to leverage proactive platform-driven contributions to social and economic development.

Abstract
Practical implications include showcasing co-creation opportunities for corporations and startups, urging public agencies to adapt policies and investment strategies to leverage proactive platform-driven contributions to social and economic development.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
