Un impegno per l'arte. L'esperienza di Mario Rimoldi nel collezionismo italiano di metà Novecento

On the occasion of the rehanging of the Museo Mario Rimoldi in Cortina d'Ampezzo and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of its gift to the town of Cortina, the new complete catalogue of the collection includes a few essays. The present one reconstructs the history and profile of Mario Rimoldi as a collector. By means of archival sources and a thorough comparison with major collectors active in Italy around the same time, the essay positions Rimoldi at the core of the intense collecting activity which was distinctive of Italy around WWII and argues that his contribution was relevant in shaping the canon of modern Italian art.
