This paper analyses a passage from an epistle of Cicero to his friend Papirius Paetus (fam. 9, 26, 7-10). In the exchange of jokes, which characterises the entire epistle to Paetus, it is possible to discern a game that, as I hypothesise, looks to mime, a genre particularly in vogue in the Caesarian age.
