The treatment of paraphilic disorders is not simple due to the very large number of possible types of paraphilias; the situation is further aggravated by the fact that some of them constitute actual crimes. The general lines of treatment will be shown both for paraphilic disorders without criminal relevance and for those of forensic relevance. For the latter, the treatment based on the Relapse Prevention Model (of cognitive-behavioral approach) and the Good Lives Model is presented, highlighting their respective strengths and weaknesses and also the problems relating to efficacy studies.

Abstract

The treatment of paraphilic disorders is not simple due to the very large number of possible types of paraphilias; the situation is further aggravated by the fact that some of them constitute actual crimes. For the latter, the treatment based on the Relapse Prevention Model (of cognitive-behavioral approach) and the Good Lives Model is presented, highlighting their respective strengths and weaknesses and also the problems relating to efficacy studies.
