Antiangiogenic drugs as chemosensitizer in genitourinary cancer

Tumor angiogenesis is a crucial factor associated with tumor growth, progression, and metastasis. Therefore, there has been a great deal of interest in the development of antiangiogenesis strategies that inhibit tumor vascularization. Conventional approaches include administering antiangiogenic drugs that target and block the activity of proangiogenic factors with good results in some cancers, although their efficacy as single agents is still debated. Exploiting their chemosensitizer feature, new strategies have focused on combining antiangiogenic agents with chemotherapy or immunotherapy. In this chapter, the role of antiangiogenic agents investigated as a therapeutic approach in genitourinary cancers and their promising future directions are described
