The Linguistic Representation of the Armenian genocide in Letters to the Editor of The Times (1914-1926)

This paper offers an overview of the research conducted by combining corpus linguistics and discourse analysis to perform quantitative and qualitative linguistic analyses on a corpus of LTE published in The Times between 1914 and 1926. The analyses were conducted on collocational patterns, concordances, and clusters of the corpus keywords obtained via WordSmith Tools and on their extended co-textual environment. This approach was combined with studies on news values and evaluative parameters, with studies on linguistic representation of identity, and with the study on ideology in the news. The results of these studies, published in other contributions by the author, are hereby summarised and further developed.
