Arte come voce di testimonianza e resistenza ad Auschwitz-Birkenau

L’espressione artistica è esistita in molteplici forme anche in luoghi inaspettati, come nel campo di concentramento e sterminio di Auschwitz-Birkenau, sito della distruzione umana che fu attivo dal 1940 al 1945. L’arte nel lager è stata strumento di propaganda per la dittatura quando è stata usata dagli stessi nazisti per nascondere le prove dei delitti che stavano commettendo, ma è esistita anche una forma d’arte che è diventata testimonianza dei prigionieri, come pure un particolare strumento di Resistenza volto al percepirsi umani: una pedagogia dell'emergenza che è diventata pedagogia di cura e di sopravvivenza. Artistic expression has existed in many forms even in unexpected places, such as in the concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, a site of human destruction that was active from 1940 to 1945. Art in the camp was a propaganda tool for the dictatorship when it was used by the Nazis themselves to hide evidence of the crimes they were committing, but there was also a form of art that became testimony of the prisoners, as well as a particular instrument of Resistance aimed at perceiving themselves as human: a pedagogy of emergency that became a pedagogy of care and survival.
