The UNESCO Chair on “Prevention and Sustainable Management of Geo-Hydrological Hazards” of the Florence University represents the first chair in Italy dedicated to applied research in the field of Geo-Hydrological Hazards threatening human life, property, cultural heritage, the natural and built environment. In June 2021, the Chair was involved by a national coordination of UNESCO Chairs in the initiative “Dialogues of the UNESCO Chairs: a laboratory of ideas for the upcoming future”. This series of webinars were held in virtual mode from June to October 2021, and represented the synthesis of a year of discussion and dialog between the Italian UNESCO Chairs engaged in the development of education and knowledge in relation to global environmental and social challenges, and for the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations. The sum of these activities, which constituted the first coordination of the Italian UNESCO Chairs, was represented by the “Declaration of the Italian UNESCO Chairs for the Sustainability” (https://www.unescochair.it/en/46-news-eventi/306-declaration-of-the-italian-unesco-chairs-for-the-sustainability UNESCO Chair). This work has the aim to expand the contents showed during the webinar in order to present the activities carried out by the UNESCO Chair on “Prevention and Sustainable Management of Geo-Hydrological Hazards” of the Florence University.
