Terrore e letteratura: il dramma insuperabile della guerra civile nella letteratura ungherese del Novecento

Con particolare riferimento al periodo che segue gli sconvolgimenti politici e sociali dell'Ungheria all'indomani della fine della prima guerra mondiale, si è soliti parlare di "terrore rosso" e "terrore bianco": questo saggio, partendo da una breve storia del terrore nelle sue manifestazioni documentate dalla letteratura e dalla storiografia, descrive le declinazioni ungheresi del tema, già nel periodo seguente la rivoluzione e guerra di indipendenza del 1848, ma più compiutamente relativamente a quello del primo dopoguerra, presentando le analisi di opere coeve (di Cécile Tormay, Dezső Szabó, Sándor Hunyady, Ervin Sinkó) ma anche di letteratura contemporanea (romanzi di Péter Esterházy e Benedek Szabolcs). *** Analysing the political and social situation in Hungary after the First World War, it is usual to speak of "red terror" and "white terror": this essay, starting from a brief history of terror in its manifestations documented by literature and historiography, describes the Hungarian "declinations" of the question, already in the period following the revolution and war of independence of 1848, but more fully in relation to the period after the First World War, presenting the analyses of contemporary works (by Cécile Tormay, Dezső Szabó, Sándor Hunyady, Ervin Sinkó) but also of later literature (novels by Péter Esterházy and Benedek Szabolcs).
