Alla vigilia della prima guerra mondiale, la scrittura di Gyula Krúdy porta, all'attenzione dei lettori ungheresi, una figura di disincantato viaggiatore, preso dalle "Mille e una notte", che vive nel passato recente e si chiama Szindbád. Questa figura diventerà emblematica non solo della produzione krudyana, ma di qualsiasi riferimento a un passato "aureo" che si leggerà nelle opere di molti autori del pieno Novecento, come il noto romanziere Sándor Márai. *** On the eve of the First World War, Gyula Krúdy brings to the attention of Hungarian readers a figure of a disenchanted traveler, taken from the "One Thousand and One Nights", who lives in the recent past and is called Szindbád. This figure will become emblematic not only of Krudy's production, but of any reference to a "golden" past that will be read in the works of many authors of the twentieth century, such as the well-known novelist Sándor Márai.
