This essay explores the literary geographies of Leonora Carrington through a surrealist lens, focusing on the embodied and transgressive spatialities in “Down Below” and “The Hearing Trumpet”. Drawing from geocriticism and new materialist theory, it highlights the convergence of physical, psychic, and textual space. Carrington's protagonists inhabit heterotopic, porous terrains where body and world interconnect. These somatic cartographies resist fixed meaning and enable a feminist reimagining of space. Ultimately, Carrington’s writing enacts a kinetic, alchemical geography of transformation and self-redefinition.
