The research aimed to improve landfill cover soil efficiency by developing novel biocovers using low-cost or waste materials. This was approached through three experimental phases involving laboratory prototypes that mimic real landfill conditions. Main gas compounds, VOCs species, and carbon isotopic signatures of methane and carbon dioxide were analyzed. Biogas biodegradation capacities of novel biocvers were compared to that of a classic landfill cover soil.
