Abstract
The town walls of Assisi testify of a centuries-long stratification in their construction and relation with civil and religious fabrics that incorporate or overlap them. The paper starts with an introduction about the evolution of the town walls and critically interweaves data from iconography - in particular referable to Giacomo Lauro’s map (1599) - with the outcomes of direct surveys on the architectural evidence. This in order to understand the historical process, made up of constructive and destructive actions connoting the walls, intended as a necessary step for a better comprehension and enhancement of the fortified system in its unity.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
