The novelty represented by the Russian Revolution of October 1917 entails the linguistic need to give new things a name, that is, to all the institutions and the ideological, political, social and technological innovations from the USSR. The volume of loans and calques related to the Soviet experience was so great that Russian became the only language in which loans are distinguished based on the historical period: Russianisms and Sovietisms. To understand how other languages welcome the latter, linguists would also create a new category: the realia. This study will analyse what Sovietisms entered the Spanish vocabulary and especially the case of Cuba, whose relationship with the USSR gave rise to a series of original and unique Sovietisms in the Spanish-speaking world.

Abstract
The novelty represented by the Russian Revolution of October 1917 entails the linguistic need to give new things a name, that is, to all the institutions and the ideological, political, social and technological innovations from the USSR. The volume of loans and calques related to the Soviet experience was so great that Russian became the only language in which loans are distinguished based on the historical period: Russianisms and Sovietisms. To understand how other languages welcome the latter, linguists would also create a new category: the realia. This study will analyse what Sovietisms entered the Spanish vocabulary and especially the case of Cuba, whose relationship with the USSR gave rise to a series of original and unique Sovietisms in the Spanish-speaking world.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
