This book aimed to describe the role of experimental soft power practices in planning and investigate novel mechanisms and informal instruments that, despite being non-coercive, have nevertheless been influential in guiding planning and design processes. The objective of this final essay is twofold: first, to provide a cohesive conclusion to the essays that form the body of the book by tracing the recurring thematic threads across its four sections, and second, to open new research perspectives by proposing a working hypothesis synthesized in the title: Making space in urban planning.

Abstract

This book aimed to describe the role of experimental soft power practices in planning and investigate novel mechanisms and informal instruments that, despite being non-coercive, have nevertheless been influential in guiding planning and design processes. The objective of this final essay is twofold: first, to provide a cohesive conclusion to the essays that form the body of the book by tracing the recurring thematic threads across its four sections, and second, to open new research perspectives by proposing a working hypothesis synthesized in the title: Making space in urban planning.
