The paper investigates the role of adversative and concessive connections in editorial articles published in Die Zeit, a German newspaper with a centerleft liberal orientation. Through a corpus analysis of 21 texts, it examines how these linguistic devices structure persuasive discourse and reflect authorial intent. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of textual cohesion and rhetorical strategy, underscoring the relevance of such analysis within German as a Foreign Language (DaF).
