Recupero e Valorizzazione del Castello di Montemassi

Perched on the southernmost slopes of the Colline Metallifere, the Castello di Montemassi, known for being represented in the famous fresco of the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena, attributed to Simone Martini, dominates, from a rugged hill, a small village and the surrounding landscape. The whole project adheres to the morphology of the terrain and the archaeological traces, although operating a reasoned selection; the new elements are inserted punctually and silently, leaving the signs of time legible. The large central space suspended on the ruins evokes the late medieval square. From here, after the tiring ascent itinerary, the gaze can finally reach as far as the marine horizon.
