The project for a small nursery school offers an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between the new and the old in architecture, viewed as a measured progression from what merely exists and its inherent temporal depths. It involves the reactivation of an interrupted tradition in order to move toward an unprecedented one still in the making—a flow and linking of intimate remembrances and sidereal transfigurations, of vertiginous leaps and slow excavations of the deep, fully aware that the ens realissimum and the imaginary rely on the fabric of their manifold relationships and mutual dependencies.
